Bizarre Carjacking and Kidnapping in Fresno
A 20 year old man reported that he was carjacked while parked, sitting in his car, talking on the phone. Two men reportedly pulled him from the vehicle, kicked him, and pistol whipped him to his forehead. He was locked in the trunk of his vehicle, when the car seemed to be off the highway driving on a dirt road. The vehicle stopped, the victim used the emergency escape latch in the trunk to open the trunk lid, and run away through the orchards.
The man sought assistance by banging on the door of a home. The vehicle was later recovered in the area.
Carjacking is a serious crime. However, the facts of this case leave a person to wonder. While people commonly pull over to talk, more often they continue driving. If two people are attacking, why would the victim start the car and driver away when the attack began? How was the victim able to escape the vehicle, and not get caught by the assailants, they had a vehicle, and you would imagine a chance of caching the beaten victim. I would like to see more facts on these allegations.
However, it is important to be aware of your surroundings, keep an eye out for people approaching your vehicle, and be careful where you park.
