PC 222 Administering Controlled Substances or Anesthetic to Aid Felony
Every person guilty of administer to another any chloroform, ether, laudanum, or any controlled substance, unaesthetic, or intoxicating agent, with intent thereby to enable or assist himself or herself or any other person to commit a felony, is guilty of a felony punishable by 16 months, 2 years, or 3 years in State prison.
We have seen "the date rape drug" which actually describes several different drugs that have been used for that purpose used to commit a sexual assault, rape, or even a robbery of the unconscious victim. This was referred to as "slipping them a Mickey" or a "Mickey Finn" in old movies or television shows. Movies often depict chloroform as an instantaneous knockout substance, which I have learned in my studies of Forensic Toxicology isn't close to being true, but it can still cause unconsciousness in a victim which would allow crimes to occur without their ability to testify after the loss of consciousness.
