While not the worse of circumstances, that would be a DUI Homicide following a fatal traffic accident, running into a police vehicle and injuring the occupant-officer is rather unfavorable by stretch of the word.

That is what is alleged to have occurred this week in Fresno.  A breathalyzer was administered following the accident and the officer is recovering from his injuries.
