The Dark Side of Social Media:

The Dark Side of Social Media continues to show itself in the reactions of those who view them.  In this situation the allegations are that the suspects wife posted a selfie on the social media site "Instagram" which led to an argument.  A selfie is a picture of ones self, taken and posted for others to see on social media.  In this case it may have had drastic results.  

There were three children present in the home, and the alleged victim fled with the 5 and 7 year old children.  A 2-year old child remained, but no children were harmed.

According to L.A. Times Article Julio Benitez was arrested follwoing the incident.

Social media related issues have been a part of many arguments, fights, cyber bullying, and other criminal allegations.  There have been high profile cases where follwoing bullying on social media a young lady commited suicide.  Other cases involved race, gender, and sexual orientation as methods of launching these unfortunate attacks.  Many times it involves a person "Likeing" another person's posts on facebook, or having their own posts "liked" by another person.   While it is occasionally a way people signal that they are interested in a person, a majority of the time it is simple friends who appreciate the post or picture posted. 

The digital media and social media sites are very important methods of advertisement, socializing, and even matchmaking, but as with any new method of communication, it leads to new issues in society.
